Congratulations to the 2019 Shamrock Charities
Scholarship Winner!

Katelyn Travis

I am starting college in Colorado to study biochemistry and go into the medical field. Volunteering throughout my life has made such am impact on the person I am today by showing me all of the wonderful things I should appreciate in my life as well as how easy it is to make someone's day better by doing simple acts and putting in time for those who have less than yourself. Thank you to all the organizations that help people in need, and thank you Shamrock Charities for helping me to pursue my dreams.

Hello! My name is Katelyn Travis, and I am so grateful to be the recipient of the 2019 Shamrock Charities Scholarship. I will begin studying at a University in California in the fall of 2019. Throughout my years in high school, I volunteered through many different organizations which benefitted children in my community. The summer before my senior year, I also completed an internship at Kindering Preschool. At Kindering, I assisted in teaching students who had mental or physical disabilities. In my future, I aspire to continue working with and helping the children in my community. I plan on graduating with a B.A. in Psychology, and then attending medical school to eventually become a pediatrician. I would like to sincerely thank Shamrock Charities for supporting my education and assisting me in achieving my goals.

The Shamrock Charities Scholarship Program encourages outstanding and spirited young people with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds to make a positive impact on their communities and it honors them through its annual Scholarship Fund.

The Charity’s scholarships are awarded to further the educational needs of the recipients. We look for individuals who have given back to their communities through volunteering with a special emphasis on children or children’s charities. Applicants submit an application and an essay, and are interviewed to explain how their volunteer activities have benefited, and will continue to benefit, the lives of children.

Shamrock Charities has long been involved with the sport of soccer as players, coaches, parents, and fans. Additional consideration is given to applicants who are, or have been, involved with soccer.
