2013 Shamrock - 3 v 3 Soccer Tournament Rules
The Shamrock’s Charity 3 v 3 Tournament will be held at Lynnwood High School in Bothell. The event is open to boys and girls U-10 through U-18. Each team will be guaranteed at least four games and can consist of up to six players.
The Shamrock Charity organization reserves the right to allow other age groups in the tournament to fill game spaces.
FIFA rules apply, unless stated below.
Numbers of Players – SIX (6) IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PLAYERS ALLOWED ON ANY GIVEN TEAM. All players must be registered on their team’s registration form prior to the start of the first game. There are THREE (3) field players allowed on the field at a time. There are no Goalkeepers in 3 v 3 soccer. Substitutes may occur at any dead ball situation, but players must get the referee’s attention and enter and exit the field at the halfway line only. A team minimum of 2-players is required to start a game.
Team Uniforms and Equipment – All players must wear jerseys/shirts during play. Team shirts should be of like color. In the event of two teams wearing the same colors, please have provisional white shirts. Per field facility rules, players must wear appropriate footwear for field turf, i.e. no metal cleats. All players must wear shin guards. Teams must provide their own game balls.
Ball sizes for each group: U10-12 size 4, U13 and up size 5.
Field Dimensions – U10 thru U-18 will play on a 40 x 30 field
Goals and Goal Box (U-10 thru U-18) – Goals are 6-ft “PUGG” goals. Goal box is 8-ft X 6-ft. No player may touch the ball within that box, however; any player may move through the box. Any part of the player’s body on the line is considered in the goal box. If a defender touches the ball within the box, a goal is awarded to the offensive team. If an offensive player touches the ball within the box, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team. If the ball comes to a complete stop within the goal box regardless of who touches it last, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team.
Game Duration – The game shall consist of two 12 -minute periods with a 2-minute half. Games tied after regulation shall end in a tie, except in the finals. One loud field horn will be used to start and stop all periods of play. The referees do not control the time of the games. Once the horn is sounded for the beginning of play, the time clock is running till the horn sounds again for the end of the period.
Goal Scoring – Goals can be scored from anywhere on the offensive half of the field of play. The ball must be last touched (either by offense or defense) within the team’s offensive half of the field
Tournament Scoring – Games will be scored according to the following: 6 points for a win, 3 points for a tie, 1 point for a shutout, 1 point for each goal scored (max of 5 points)
Tiebreakers – Ties in standings between two teams will be broken by: 1) goal difference in tournament play 2) goals scored in tournament play 3) least goals allowed 4) shootout. Ties between three or more teams will be broken by 1) goal difference in tournament play 2) goals scored in tournament play 3) least goals allowed 4) shootout with 1 team receiving a first round draw by random draw. A forfeit will count as a score of 10 points.
No Offsides and No Slide Tackling in 3 v 3 Soccer.
Five-Yard Rule – All dead ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from ball. If the defensive player’s goal area is closer than five yards, the ball shall be placed five yards from the goal area in line with the foul.
Kick-ins – The ball shall be kicked into play from the sidelines instead of a throw in
Indirect Kicks – All dead ball kicks (kick-ins, free kicks, kickoffs) are indirect with the exception of corner & penalty kicks
Goal Kicks – May be taken from any point on the end line
Kickoff – May be taken in any direction
Penalty Kicks – Shall be awarded if, in the referee’s opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction. It is a direct kick taken from the middle of the half line with all players behind the half field line. If a goal is not scored, the defense obtains possession with a goal kick. Penalty kicks are not live balls.
Red Cards – Red carded player may play in next game. 2-red cards for a player & the player is ejected from the tournament.
Forfeits – A team must be ready to start within 5-minutes of start time or forfeits the game.
Coed/ Multi-Generational Rules – Coed - At least one female player on the field at all times. Multi-Generational – At least one player from each generation on the field at all times.
All referee decisions are final!
